Spring Break Fo’Eva: A Movie-Watching Endeavor

It’s Spring Break b — busy college students. That means spending endless hours in your bikinis, swim trunks or speedos burning in the sun and then coming inside to apply ample layers of aloe vera. While you wait for that soothing salve to heal the burn, why not watch a film or two? Or better yet, grab your computer right now, log onto your distant friend or family member’s Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO or whatever streaming system you have access to, and watch a film to get you pumped up for spring break.

Spring Breakers (2013)

A classic movie with the classic line, “Spring Break fo’eva.” So why not live in the words of the great James Franco, aka Alien? His golden teeth and cornrows are sure to get you in the party spirit.

And let’s not forget that Alex Russo, Gabriella Montez and Hanna Marin were also all in this movie. Oh shoot, I’m sorry, I mean Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson. Also, weirdly enough, Gucci Mane makes a surprise appearance. I know, I forgot, too.

Did this movie get 5.3 stars out of 10 on IMDb? Yes. Did a critic say, “This movie’s likely to make audiences ridiculously uncomfortable”? Sure did. But is it a movie about spring break? Kind of.

XOXO (2016)

This is an EDM fest fairytale, and I dig it. It’s like if “Valentine’s Day” and “We Are Your Friends” had a love child. Even if you aren’t going to a music festival for spring break, the neon colors, banging music and rebirth of Lemonade Mouth’s lead guitar player, Hayley Kiyoko, is sure to get you in the spring break spirit.

So grab your fishnets, glitter and space buns, and let’s get pumped for spring break. If anything, you can listen to the soundtrack as you roadtrip, boat-trip or plane-trip to your next destination.

22 Jump Street (2014)

Sequels are usually not better than their OG film, and this movie is exactly that. It’s one of the better sequels in my opinion, but hey, it takes place on a spring break trip, so it makes the list.

Honestly, this movie has a pretty darn good cast complete with Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Jillian Bell, Ice Cube, Jimmy Tatro, Nick Offerman and the twin comedians, Kenny and Keith Lucas.

If you’re wanting a movie packed full of partying, undercover cops, inappropriate but hilarious jokes and Bell’s legendary kiss/fight with Hill, then please go watch this movie. If you just want to laugh for an hour and a half, then go watch this movie. And if you want to get properly pumped up for spring break, then this movie is for you.
