Student Body To Vote On ASB Constitution Changes

By Kareen Boyadjian

Hey Loma!

I’m Kareen Boyadjian. I’m a part of Point Loma Nazarene University Senate’s Governance and Documents committee. We have been working hard on updating the language, adding a section, creating clearer guidelines and more on Article VIII of the Associated Student Body (ASB) Constitution.

This section of the constitution specifically explains how ASB Elections are run. However, the old language made specific GPA requirements unclear and made it difficult to understand what year a student can run for each ASB position. We also created a section for what to do in the case of vacancies and in the case an interim needs to step into an ASB board position for an emergency, short period or a longer period during the fall semester, winter break and summer.

We have worked to make distinct grammatical and structural changes to this section so that everyone who wants to be involved in ASB can have an equal chance. This will be on the ballot in the upcoming election — more information regarding the election will come from ASB soon — and it is important for you to read about these changes to make an informed vote.
