The San Diego Gulls are ready to carry on their success from last season into this season. Last season, they finished second in the Pacific Conference and lost 4-1 in the conference semifinals to the San Jose Barracuda, but they hope to build off their experiences.

Right winger Corey Tropp led the team with 54 points in the 2016 regular season, with left winger Kalle Kossila not far behind with 48 points. Tropp and left winger Antoine Laganiere also led the Gulls with 21 goals each last season. Goalie Kevin Boyle had 512 saves, while goalie Jhonas Enroth had 452 saves, but had the highest save percentage at 93.6 percent.

The Gulls have started the 2017 season with a 2-3 record, but there are plenty of games left for the team to improve. So far, Kossila and defensman Andy Welinski each have five points to lead the Gulls, while left winger Kevin Roy leads the team in goals with four.

With the Gulls only opening their inaugural AHL season in 2015, they have enjoyed a lot of success to this point. The Gulls have an overall 82-44-7-4 record (wins, losses, overtime losses and shootout losses, respectively) and a 0.643 win percentage in the two years combined prior to this one. Head coach Dallas Eakins has proven to be the right man for the job and hopes to lead the team to what would be a first-time appearance in the conference finals. The Gulls have lost in the conference semifinals the previous two years.

The Gulls call Valley View Casino Center home, which only happens to be 4.3 miles (12 minutes) away from our PLNU campus. Single game tickets are as low as $21. There are also some exciting promotions happening on various nights for the fans in attendance, such as Rally Towel Giveaway, Blue Mustache Giveaway, and Camo Hat Giveaway on Military Night.

Their next home game is Wednesday, October 25th against the Stockton Heat.
