PLNU’s Hui ‘O Hawai‘i organization held its annual luau on April 10 at Young Hall for the campus community to get a taste of Hawaiian culture. The event featured local food, singing, dancing and games. It opened with a father-son duo singing local songs and Kūhai Hālau O ‘llima Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko, a hula group from Oceanside, performed multiple dances. There were games, including a “chee-hoo” contest, where students gave their best try for a chance to win a prize.
“Luau is really important to me because it brings home away from home. It gives students from Hawaii a place to gather,” said Reaves Dayton, Hui ‘O Hawai‘i president.
