With this first edition, we’re kicking off November with some exciting news and events you won’t want to miss.
ASB News
The Board of Directors has approved a proposal to make the Director of School Spirit an elected position, aiming to give students more power in choosing their leaders. The proposal has been passed by the Student Senate, moving it to a student body vote that will open mid-November. To confirm this amendment, a two-thirds affirmative vote from students is required. If approved, candidates for Director of School Spirit will campaign and give a speech in chapel during ASB election season.

Events
On Nov. 11, we’re hosting an Election Dialogue event, giving everyone a chance to connect and discuss the recent election results. It’s a space to ask questions and learn from each other — no matter where you stand. ASB President Colby Douglas hopes the event will promote peace on campus.
“Thank you all for how you have shown up for each other in the last few months,” Douglas said. “My team and I have seen so many examples of this community surrounding each other when times get hard. I’m reminded of Ephesians 4, where Paul talks about unified communities that come together and support each part, doing so through love. Come to the post-election dialogue to experience this on an even larger scale.”
On Nov. 14, join us in the ARC for a celebration of student art and surf culture with the screening of “Tomorrow Never Knows,” a surf film by Noah Kawaguchi, a fourth-year business entrepreneurship and management major. Alongside the film, enjoy a vibrant student art display and a performance by the local band Superbloom, making this event a true showcase of our campus’s creativity. It’s a great opportunity to support fellow students and experience the unique creativity that makes our university so special.
Upcoming
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. From Nov. 28 through 30, we’ll have a few days off to relax, reconnect and reflect on the blessings in our lives. Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude and for taking a step back to appreciate what matters most in our lives, so make the most of the break to recharge before the final stretch of the semester.
