During your time at PLNU, you may be interested in an opportunity to study abroad. With over 150 options, it can be difficult to choose the right one for you. There are many programs open to all majors, while other trips are more major specific. Some may be a week long while others are a year long. The following is a list of the top 10 most popular places to study abroad for students at PLNU this academic year, according to Christina Chorbin, assistant director of PLNU’s study abroad program. While there are many other amazing options outside of these 5, these destinations are chosen more often by students. If you’d like to find out more information about studying abroad outside of this article, then make sure to visit the Office of Global Studies in Bond Academic Center!

  1. Italy There are 10  study abroad programs in Italy. They are scattered among the cities of Venice, Milan, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. Many of the trips are geared toward art, architecture, history, and the humanities.
  2. Spain There are over 15 programs located in various Spanish universities. Majors in language, business, international relations, and social science are available, along with many other liberal arts and science majors. Like Italy, there are many cities within Spain students can choose to study abroad: Madrid, Seville, Bilbao, Barcelona, Valencia, Salamanca, Granada, and Cadiz.
  3. New Zealand There are three locations within New Zealand students can choose to study abroad. They are Kaikoura, Christchurch, and Dunedin. New Zealand study abroad programs are open to almost any major.
  4. France There are four places to study abroad within France: Paris, Grenoble, Aix-en Province, and Sophia Antipolis. Like New Zealand, many majors are represented in France. However, there is an emphasis on language, business, liberal arts, and engineering studies.
  5. United Kingdom The UK offers many locations to study abroad: Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Stirling, Edinburgh, and Manchester. The arts, business, theology, and science are all offered in the UK, along with many more majors.

While there are plenty more places to study abroad, these five places alone have many opportunities for almost any major. Typically, these countries offer year or semester long trips. A good place to start in your study abroad journey, according to Corbin, is in the Office of Global Studies, where Monday-Friday there are study abroad interest meetings. These meetings will give you the opportunity to learn more about the many options offered through PLNU to have a once in a lifetime study abroad experience!
