Best San Diego Coffee Shops for Studying

How many of you get studying fatigue and need a change of scenery to get those productive juices flowing again? Here are some coffee shops around San Diego with comfy seating for long homework sessions, fast wifi to maintain your sanity and all-around good vibes to help your Canvas to-do list become obsolete. 

The first option comes as no surprise: Moniker Coffee Co. Located in the heart of Liberty Station, this popular, industrial-style shop has both indoor and outdoor seating. Come early to stake out a couch or find a table at the shaded patio. Not to mention it is owned by a Point Loma Nazarene University alumni and has a retail store attached if you are in need of some retail therapy after studying. It is open every day from 7 a.m to 7 p.m, serving a wide array of teas, cold brews, bubblies and so much more. Only a quick four-mile drive from campus, this creative space could be your next go-to homework spot.

Another great Liberty Station pick for studying is Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe. Why not load up on carbs to fuel your productivity? This bakery has an assortment of bread and pastries made fresh daily and plenty of parking. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the week, you surely will not be disappointed with the warm and inviting atmosphere. Including both indoor and outdoor seating, don’t be surprised if you want to stay for hours at this cozy, homey cafe. 

Does anyone else get to the end of the day and still have a full list of work to do? Located in downtown, Lestat’s on Park is open 24/7, offering coffee, light eats and live music. One huge plus are their prices, ranging from $2.75 to $5.50 for any of the drinks on their menu. Seating is plentiful and eclectic, from cow-printed leather chairs and metallic sectionals to velvet throne chairs greeting you at the front entrance. This unique experience definitely will keep you coming back, whether it be 3 p.m, or 3 a.m.

Coming in with an almost perfect 4.9/5 stars on Google, The Template is a fun and quirky spot to crank out some work. You definitely will not miss finding it on the streets of Ocean Beach, with its vibrant yellow and blue building and large red lettering. The inside is just as intriguing with a mix of black and white patterns on the floors and walls, thick greenery and colorful lighting. You can take a brain break with their yoga sessions every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday and open mic nights on Thursdays. There is even a vintage arcade game under an enormous 3-D dinosaur art piece. This place is so unique that it almost doesn’t seem real. Go check out this coffee shop for a change of pace, but make sure not to get too distracted with all its fun features.

Last, but certainly not least, is Cafe Bassam. Only minutes away from the famous Balboa Park, this antique-style area is perfect for old souls or those who have an interest in vintage pieces. There are large displays of classic coffee and tea equipment to decorate and display their loose leaf mixes. Open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to midnight, this is a great option for a quiet yet intriguing spot for homework. Plus, if you get tired of the typical coffee shop drinks and eats, have no fear… they sell chicken wings.Studying definitely does not have to be boring. The next time you are in need of a new spot to be productive, branch out to one of these eclectic coffee shops around San Diego.
